possible. It is quicker, requires less work and makes

refilling easier. You should always fill your holes.

Proper Scanning Techniques

Swing the searchcoil back and forth in front of you in

a straight line. Keep the searchcoil moving at a rate

of about one to two feet per second. Because of the

sensitivity of the

GTAx 550 and its PROformance™

searchcoil, it is not necessary to operate with the

searchcoil touching the ground. The recommended

operating method is to hold the coil at a constant

height about one or two inches above the ground.

Detection of a metal target will be indicated by an

increase in sound and indications on your display.

Garrett's exclusive Belltone Coin Alert will indicate

you have discovered a target of high conductivity,

probably a coin.

Locate your target precisely by scanning back and

forth over the target to determine where the signal

is the loudest.
